Job Description:

- Coordinate and supervise citrus and other tree crop research projects at IRREC farm and cooperator groves. The incumbent will work independently and cooperatively with the P.I. to determine and modify experimental protocols, establish research plots, collect data, compile data for entry into spreadsheets, and analyze data.
- Perform daily inspections of the field experiments and coordinate with agricultural assistants to maintain farm conditions appropriate for work. Ensure that nutritional programs and pest control are up to date and maintain detailed records of applications. Consult with researchers and other professionals to maintain appropriated field conditions, analyze problems, determine strategies, and recommend solutions.
- Manage laboratory teams, supervise the work of other scientists, technicians, and graduate students, and train new lab employees.
- Provide routine maintenance on laboratory and greenhouse equipment; verify that equipment and instrumentation are maintained in working condition to ensure accuracy and quality of experimental results.
-Organize, coordinate, and delegate functions to another lab member during extension events and field days. Complies with Chemical and Pesticide Safety Program: Responsible for safe storage, use, disposal, and appropriate documentation of chemicals and pesticides and training personnel in laboratory safety techniques.
Purchase supplies for use in the laboratory and field.
Performs other tasks as necessary under the direction of the P.I.
Collect data in fields by driving a state vehicle.

Expected Salary:

45,600.00

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field and three years of experience or Master’s degree in biology or a related field with one year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

MSc degree in agriculture or related field and three years of experience in research and horticultural production. Experience in driving a tractor
