The Role:

We are seeking motivated and experienced Registered Nurses for the Emergency Department at the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH). We are looking for passionate nurses who deliver the greatest quality of care and will collaborate with members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team. It is expected that within the dynamic multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to a strong professional team approach through open communication and a positive supportive environment.

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will contribute to the health outcomes of your patients through excellence in practice, fostering a learning culture, excellent communication skills and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

The Team:

The Mersey Community Hospital (MCH), Latrobe offers general and specialist health services including 24 hour emergency department, general medicine day surgery and endoscopy, rehabilitation, palliative care and oncology services along with a variety of specialist clinics. Mersey Community hospital is a dedicated elective surgery centre and provides a mixture of general hospital services. The hospital has close ties with the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School and with TAFE Tasmania thus providing opportunities for comprehensive clinical training programs.

The MCH ED is a vibrant department with 13 cubicles (2 resus bays, 6 acute bays, 5 sub-acute) plus fast track area and a 7-bed EMU, providing emergency care 24/7. There is an active program to onboard staff, including a Transition to Emergency Nursing program. Supported by the CNE and Nurse Practitioners, training and development in Emergency Nursing advanced practice skills is offered to increase scope of practice.

Details of Appointment

Multiple permanent, full time and part time, shift-worker positions available, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from April 2024.

Salary: $75,902 - $102,908 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
