Period of Appointment

Up to 2 years

Hours per fortnight

Up to 73.5 hours - flexible options available.

Duties

  1. Participate, and take a lead role as required, in the development of the Service Roadmap for whole of Government Network Services, within the context of the Government’s policy objectives, agencies’ requirements and best practice in the marketplace. Contribute, as part of a project team, to the delivery of major service upgrades.
  2. Work with vendors, agencies and other relevant stakeholders to identify, detail and manage risks, issues and opportunities and to drive continuous service improvement – including improvements to features and functionality, service delivery enhancements, and the mitigation of risk.
  3. Negotiate and manage service changes, including the development / update of relevant policies, processes and documentation and management of associated stakeholder communications. Documentation may include service descriptions, service level agreements, and contractual documentation.
  4. Monitor vendor performance to ensure that the contractual obligations and associated services consumed by agencies are delivered in accordance with applicable terms and service level agreements (SLAs). Where necessary act as an escalation point for agencies and/or vendors and facilitate dispute resolution.
  5. Develop and manage effective relationships with key vendors, including liaison at both a management and operational level and the coordination of regular governance and operational forums.
  6. Develop and manage effective, customer focussed relationships with agencies and other customers, both at a senior management and operational level. Facilitate, as required, cross-government discussions and forums to understand business and technical requirements and issues and to enable the effective development, implementation and operation of new and existing services.
  7. Provide high quality specialist advice relating to IT networks and infrastructure and associated industry and regulatory issues, both to senior management within DPAC and to other agencies as required. This advice may relate to DSS services or other initiatives, whole of government strategies, policies and projects, regulatory issues, and other industry and technology issues.
  8. The incumbent can expect to be allocated duties, not specifically mentioned in this document, that are within the capacity, qualifications and experience normally expected from persons occupying positions at this classification level.

Desirable requirements:

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or research experience to a similar level would be an advantage.

Understanding of project management concepts and practices, and experience managing small to medium projects is desirable but not essential.
