Senior Social Worker – Level 3 – Fixed Term Full-time (to June 2026)

Our West Coast District Hospital is a place where people from across the caring professions come together to serve our community members in Queenstown and the surrounding areas. We provide care throughout the patient journey, from the Emergency First Response Unit, through to Residential Aged Care and Community Health services. You will work within a close-knit multi-disciplinary care team, using your skills and experience to provide evidence-informed services. You will be a leader, as you contribute to the development and implementation of policy and models of care that make an impact on the people of this beautiful part of the world.

Details of Appointment: Fixed term, full-time, day time position, working 76 hours per fortnight (hours negotiable) until June 2026.

Salary: $106,966 - $123,013 per annum + 11% superannuation

Salary Packaging: Access to a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year

Relocation Assistance: Reimbursement for relocation expenses incurred through relocating will be negotiated. Subsidised accommodation

Professional Development: $1,000 per annum entitlement for professional development, as well as fully funded flights, accommodation and travel allowance to attend PD events interstate

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

1. Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
2. Eligible for membership with the AASW or is a full member of AASW
3. Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a “certification of eligibility” letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership to the AASW
4. Current Driver’s Licence
5. Current Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (NDIS endorsed)

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

1. Minimum of 3 years experience as a practising social worker in a relevant field

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

1. Crimes of violence
2. sex related offences
3. serious drug offences
4. crimes involving dishonesty
5. serious traffic offences

2. Identification check
3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.

*As required by the Aged Care Act, occupants of this role are required to undertake a conviction check assessment every 3 years.
