About the Role
The Research/Senior Research Fellow roles in Implementation Science, Lung Cancer Screening offer a unique opportunity in the Evaluation and Implementation Science Unit (EISU) at Melbourne School of Population and Global Health. Responsible for leading the 'Ready to Screen' (R2S) trial funded by the Medical Research Future Fund, candidates will manage the trial, engage stakeholders, and contribute to shaping Australia's first targeted national screening program for lung cancer.

Your responsibilities will include:

Leading the development and execution of implementation activities and lead data analysis and interpretation for the R2S trial. Contribute to the methodological rigour of the Lung Cancer Screening implementation trial.
Working collaboratively with the R2S team by leading protocol development, ethics and governance approvals, and manage investigators’ participation in the implementation trial activities.
Working collaboratively with the R2S team to deliver the trial in primary care practices, including negotiating the implementation of trial resources and materials for primary care staff (providers and administrators).
Making significant contributions to writing peer-reviewed manuscripts and mentoring junior research staff in analysing qualitative and/or quantitative data and preparing manuscripts for submission.

Who We Are Looking For
You will excel in this role as an academic leader who enjoys attention to detail, engaging with stakeholders, and taking a leadership role in grant development and project execution. Your collaborative research capacity, coupled with excellent communication and negotiation skills, ensures successful outcomes. Additionally, your strong organisational skills and effective teamwork enable efficient management of deadlines and demands.

You will also have:

A PhD in a relevant discipline such as implementation science, health services research, public health, behavioural science / health psychology, epidemiology or social sciences.
A track record of publications in academic journals that demonstrates extensive experience in quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis and interpretation, as well as preparing manuscripts for peer review.
A thorough knowledge and demonstrated experience in implementation or improvement sciences inclusive of conducting of real-world, pragmatic trials.
High level experience with the development of trial protocols and/or Human Research Ethics Committee (HREC) applications, research grant applications and research governance applications.

Demonstrated capacity for collaborative research, including working in teams where contributors are located across multiple organisations.
