Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking an intermediate-level End User Computing Specialist II to join Academic Technology, Software Licensing Services, a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

Software Licensing Services (SLS) provides software licensing, distribution, and management services for departments at the University of Florida. SLS works with campus departments and software vendors to obtain campus agreements, provide software to end users, manage inter-department billing, and review license usage. SLS also maintains an online listing of software licenses managed centrally at the University of Florida.

The End User Computing Specialist II supports internal SLS processes as well as end user software needs. This position must be knowledgeable of the technical aspects of supported titles and their deployment. Additionally, they must understand and communicate the specifics of license acquisition and usage. This requires accuracy in communication via phone, email, and website.

Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:

  • Assisting users with obtaining and installing managed software and licenses. This may involve working with departmental IT services and vendor support to resolve issues
  • Working within software vendor portals to manage end user accounts
  • Fulfilling and reconciling software orders from campus via the SLS ordering system
  • Understanding licensing terms of supported software and serving as a resource for campus customers
  • Facilitating the risk assessment process that is conducted by UFIT Information Security for software managed by Software Licensing Services
  • Maintaining Software Licensing Services website including software availability and installation information

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation-accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close from December 26 to 31, when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$20.60 - $23.95 an hour; commensurate based on education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Associate’s degree and two years of appropriate experience; or a high school diploma and four years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following experience and skills:

  • Excellent communication skills: ability to explain complex, highly technical information to non-technical colleagues using clear, simple language in both oral and written communication
  • Attention to detail in communications and task completion
  • Experience troubleshooting and documenting software installation issues
  • Experience with software licensing and related direct customer support
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Excellent service through professional and courteous interactions with internal and external customers

This role will be based in one of our Gainesville offices and may include a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office (Wednesday required), and 2 days remote.
