Professional Support Staff, including school psychologists, speech and language pathologists and social workers, are key in providing critical evidence-based services to our students, teachers and families to optimise wellbeing, engagement and academic success.

The DECYP will from time to time require the services of employees for specified fixed-term and relief basis in a number of skill areas and disciplines. Such appointments fill a valuable role in complementing the existing permanent workforce.

School Psychologist

Salary Range: $70,794.00 - $106,764.00 pro rata, per annum - Teaching Service (Tasmanian Public Sector) Award Band 1
Essential Requirement: Current registration as a Psychologist within Tasmania in accordance with the provisions of the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Tasmania) Act 2010 or possesses a degree with a fourth year qualification in Psychology which will enable registration following two years of supervised practice as a School Psychologist.
Social Worker

Salary Range: $68,725.00 - $103,575.00 pro rata, per annum - Allied Health Professionals (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2014
Essential Requirement: Degree in Social Work from a University, Institute of Technology or College of Advanced Education or an equivalent award from a recognised overseas institution.
Speech and Language Pathologist

Essential Requirement: Degree in Speech Pathology from an Australian University, Institute of Technology or College of Advanced Education or an equivalent award from a recognised overseas institution.
Essential Requirements
The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This registration must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of this may be checked at any time during employment.

Selection from the Register
Where a vacancy occurs the Allied Health Professional Children/Youth Support Fixed Term and Relief Employment Register will be examined to identify those persons who possess the necessary knowledge, skills, currency and qualifications to undertake the duties of the vacancy and who will be available to work.
Where vacancies are identified and an applicant(s) are regarded as being suitable to undertake the particular appointment, a merit-based selection process will be undertaken. The selection process may involve formal interviews.
