The team: Acute Medical Unit (AMU) is a faced paced 25 bed unit - including 9 negative pressure rooms focusing on acute medicine Supportive environment with a focus on ongoing professional and career development Strong multidisciplinary approach to healthcare The role: Provides clinical nursing leadership in a contemporary acute care practice setting including advanced nursing care within scope of practice. In collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) undertakes nursing assessments, contributes to planning, and co-ordinates the delivery of services to patients admitted to the AMU. Develops effective relationships with other service providers across the hospital and within the community to improve services and service access. Actively incorporates teaching, practice-based research, and quality activities within the role to improve standards of care. The incumbent will document assessments, continuing treatments, and further treatment planning in the electronic medical record in a timely manner. The incumbent will screen and assess complex mental health needs of patients and their families, including identifying strengths and weaknesses, services, and financial constraint. The incumbent will provide rapid response to emergency needs of complex patients and families using evidence based interventions to stabilize and resolve crisis situations.
