The Team:
The Customer Service Officers at the Department of Health Tasmania’s Central Administrative Hub are part of a small, dynamic team supporting the Outpatient Transformation Program, which aims to improve public outpatient services across Tasmania. This team plays a key role in streamlining administrative workflows and enhancing service delivery through contemporary practice management and call centre principles.
The team ensures efficient, consumer-centred administrative support using a range of software and office systems. Their work helps reduce delays and improve consistency across outpatient services statewide.
The Role:
Provide efficient administrative and/or reception services to Inpatient or Outpatient Service Units (or other clerical/administration area as required), utilising a range of software packages and office equipment, in accordance with established Agency policy, guidelines and procedures.
Customer Service Officers in this team are expected to:
Provide high-quality administrative and clerical support
Handle enquiries with sensitivity and confidentiality
Maintain accurate client records and filing systems
Communicate effectively and work independently under pressure
This role is ideal for individuals with strong organisational skills, a client-focused mindset, and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
You will need:
Demonstrated skills in and understanding of contemporary office administration practices, including the ability to provide confidential, high quality administrative support in a client focused environment.
Sound knowledge of and experience in the use of a broad range of software packages and information systems, including word processing, spreadsheets and databases, and the ability to quickly become adept in the use of new systems.
Well-developed interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication skills, appropriate to undertaking administrative and reception duties in a health service environment.

Details of appointment:

Salary
Medical Practitioners (Public Sector) Award
A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicant dependent on clinical experience and seniority.
Base salary points range for Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 at $222,789 through to Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 11 at $305,539 with further salary increments available.
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Market Allowance of $95,000 pro rata per annum
Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle (subject to working full-time hours) OR allowance in lieu of motor vehicle currently set at $28,786 pro rata per annum, paid fortnightly (with CPI indexation on 1 July each year).
Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $17,483 pro rata per annum.
On call allowance % of Base Salary.
All other allowances as per current Award.
And subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of Base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.

The Team:
The New Norfolk community nursing team main Hub is at New Norfolk community Nursing Team Lower Ground, New Norfolk District Hospital.
The team is a part of Subacute, aged care and community care stream (SAACS) of Tasmanian Health service who work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
This team works across three sites which may include being rostered to start your day at either Central Highlands (Ouse), New Norfolk, and Midlands (Oatlands) office.
The Role:
The role involves home visits and clinic appointments providing a broad range of clinical care for example core areas of wound care, catheter management and palliative care in partnership with patients/clients, their families and other health professionals.

Holds a Bachelor of Paramedic Science or other qualification approved by the Service and relevant work experience with an additional qualification in management or equivalent.
