Job Description:
We are seeking a motivated Clinical Research Coordinator II who has a desire to lead the coordination of acute care research studies in the Department of Emergency Medicine’s Division of Research. Our Division is currently actively involved in studies of pediatric health disparities, chest pain, sepsis, infectious disease, global health, neurologic emergencies, patient safety and simulation, and trauma.
The Clinical Research Coordinator II will have various responsibilities related to the preparation and/or review of the scientific proposal, regulatory and IRB protocols, sponsor contracts (Terms & Conditions), conduct of research, reporting, and project closeout procedures. This position coordinates with the Vice Chair of Research, Principal Investigators (PI), the Clinical Research Manager, and Research Administrators and Coordinators in the Department of Emergency Medicine. It will also work with the local Institutional Review Board and Office of Clinical Research to help ensure that clinical research and related activities are performed in accordance with Federal regulations, University of Florida, and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
Responsibilities for this role include:
Prepare revisions and continuing reviews to the IRB for submission.
Recruit and screen participants according to study criteria, explaining the study to potential participants and obtaining informed consent.
Collect and manage research data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with protocol requirements.
Coordinate and oversee the day-to-day activities of clinical research studies, including scheduling visits, procedures, and tests.
Review and develop a familiarity with the contract or award terms and conditions.
Assist principal investigator(s), coordinators, and research manager with scientific and compliance reporting requirements in accordance with Federal regulations and University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
Collaborates with the research manager to facilitate the submission of accurate and timely closeout documents to applicable Federal agencies, University entities, and the sponsoring agency in accordance with Federal regulations and University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures.
Train and supervise junior staff, including CRCs and research assistants, ensuring compliance with protocol and regulatory requirements.

The Crop Biotechnology Research Program at University of Florida, headed by Fredy Altpeter, is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate with experience in modular assembly of recombinant DNA constructs, plant genetic engineering, molecular biology and project management to join our team. The research program focuses on designing high biomass crops for enhanced productivity and production of biomass oil using the “plants as factories” concept.
The successful candidate will apply established transformation protocols and accelerated DBTL cycles to validate regulatory elements and target genes for crop improvement and develop transgenic strategies for metabolic engineering to enhance the quality and quantity of biomass lipids using molecular, biochemical and phenotypic characterization of genetically modified events under controlled environment conditions. BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Minimum Requirements:
A PhD in plant molecular biology or related field is required. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. This work requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English as well as excellent writing skills as demonstrated by a strong publication record in peer reviewed journals. The recruited candidate is expected to publish at least one peer reviewed publication per year. Extensive background in molecular genetics is essential, including design and construction of multi-gene vectors using modular cloning platforms like Golden Gate assembly, analysis of RNAseq data, plant tissue culture, biolistic gene transfer, molecular, biochemical and phenotypic characterization of transgenic plants under greenhouse and field environments and statistical analysis of data. Candidates must also have a commitment to UF core values .
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge in synthetic biology, plant metabolism, physiology and genomic regulation is desirable.
