The Team
Smithton District Hospital (SDH) is small sized sub-acute public hospital located in Smithton Tasmania. It services the whole Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8000 people.
The Hospital has 12 subacute beds accommodating general medicine, post-acute, palliative and end of life care. SDH plays an active role in supporting patient access and flow challenges for the region which creates a dynamic turnover of patients in addition to regular regionally based workflows. The 3 bay Emergency First Response ward is staffed by ward nurses supported by General Practitioners (Rural Medical Practitioners) who are contracted to provide on call medical services. No surgery is performed at this hospital.
SDH also deliver a dynamic outpatient service focussed on patient needs including low risk chemotherapy and supportive treatments for cancer diagnosis, blood products and iron transfusions for acute and chronic conditions.
The Role
As an Enrolled Nurse in a rural facility, you be expected to work with an extended scope of practice as you will be working in a small team across inpatient, outpatient & emergency care.
Undertake frontline nurse led care in a multidisciplinary team environment
Build and maintain patient and family rapport to maximise patient engagement and outcomes
Receive day to day support and leadership from the registered, clinical educator & experienced senior nursing team
Due to very limited public transport, a drivers licence would be an advantage

Details of appointment
Multiple permanent, Shift Worker (fully rotational) positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Salary
$73,109 to $80,524 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Job Description:
This position serves to support the research faculty in the Department of Medicine, one of the largest departments in the College of Medicine with over 1,000 employees.
This role in Medicine involves developing and managing complex proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies, and ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines. The position also provides post-award financial administration and management for complex research funds, interpreting program funding guidelines, and preparing renewals and reports for grant agencies.
The Research Administrator III coordinates and manages multiparty, complex projects in accordance with university and sponsor regulations. They provide policy and procedure interpretation to faculty, units, staff, and research administrators, assisting with monitoring and preparation of reports to sponsoring agencies. Additionally, the position focuses on advancing service delivery and efficiency, monitoring quality, performance improvement, and continual process assessment. The Research Administrator III is responsible for building relationships with units within the department, college and university constituents, supporting a culture centered on delivering excellent customer service.
Essential Functions:
Proposal Development and Pre-Award SupportCollaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) to develop and submit complex proposals for federal, state, and private funding agencies.Proposal Development:Offer training and resources on proposal preparation and submission processes.• Provide expert guidance and technical assistance throughout the proposal development process.• Review and interpret Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to identify sponsor requirements.• Assist in the preparation of accurate budgets and documentation for each proposal.• Coordinate the collection and review of required documentation from subrecipients, including statements of work, letters of collaboration, cost-sharing commitments, detailed budgets, and budget justifications.Proposal Review and Compliance:• Ensure proposals meet sponsor and university guidelines, including formatting, multi-project/multi-party budget preparation, and documentation requirements.• Identify potential issues with proposals and provide recommendations for resolution.UFIRST Management:• Enter and manage proposal data in UFIRST, ensuring accuracy and completeness.• Oversee the submission process, ensuring timely and thorough submission to the Office of Research.Post-Award Management and ComplianceAward Review and Acceptance: • Review grant and contract award terms and conditions to determine budgetary requirements, restrictions, invoicing schedules, and other details. • Actively participate in the negotiation of award terms with sponsors to secure favorable conditions in line with university policies. • Coordinate with Contracts & Grants and other central university offices for proper processing and acceptance of awards. Liaison and Communication Primary Point of Contact: • Serve as the primary contact and liaison for departmental faculty and staff, as well as the Office of Research, regarding pre-award and post-award processes. • Facilitate communication between PIs, departmental administrators, central university offices, and external sponsors. Relationship Building: • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with faculty, research administrators, and other campus departments. • Promote a customer-service-oriented approach in all interactions, ensuring a supportive and responsive environment for research administration. Training and Outreach: • Provide training and resources to faculty and staff on research administration processes and sponsor guidelines. • Participate in workshops, seminars, and other educational opportunities to enhance the knowledge and skills of research administrators within CLAS. Job Description:
The Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine is accepting applications for a Biological Scientist IV. The position will reside within the Division’s Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Laboratory and will report directly to Dr. Karina Serban, the laboratory director and an experienced physician-scientist in the field of Alpha-1 deficiency and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Human and murine tissue processing and epithelial cell isolation and precision cut lung slices (PCLS)-related Experiments
Develop novel approaches and analytical tools as required to harvest and maintain epithelial cells and PCLSs cultures derived from human explanted lungs and murine lungs.
Design and develop dose escalation studies involving alveolar organoids and PCLSs cultures in accordance with IRB and IBC protocols.
Collect, dissect, examine and interpret results of human and murine epithelial cells and tissue harvest.
Develop, organize and conduct immunofluorescence and FACS analysis and data interpretation.
Design and direct metabolism assays (Seahorse), to include oversight of technicians performing testing, review and interpretation of results.
Provide intellectual input as to troubleshooting strategies utilized in organoids and PCLS cultures.
Scholarly activities related to Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency and COPD research conducted in the lab
Analyze and interpret data, prepare graphs and figures for meetings and grant submissions.
Present data and manuscripts in weekly lab meeting and annually in divisional meetings.
Design and direct ELISA testing for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency to include oversight of technicians performing the testing, review and interpret the results.
Participate in bio-product development to include initial designs, pilot experiments, and collaborating with the Office of Technology and Licensing for assurance of appropriate patents.
Create or modify web-based tools and test potentially new software to provide statistical and computational tools for big data interpretation.
Managerial Duties
Supervise other scientists and undergraduate students.
Coordinate experiments involving human tissue harvest to include procedures in collaboration with lung transplant team and other research groups on campus.
Interact and coordinate with off-campus collaborators samples shipments, common on-line meetings, and in-person visits.
Prepare a quarterly report on the performance of the scientists and students, under direct supervision.
Expected Salary:
$70,000 - $92,200; Commensurate with education and experience
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in biology or a related field and thirteen years of experience or Master’s degree in biology or a related field with eleven year of experience. Doctoral degree in biology or related field with eight years of experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with human and murine tissue handling, 3D culture of PCLS and epithelial cells in organoids model are a must. This position will require independent thinking and the ability to serve as leader on complex projects to investigate new molecular signaling and physiological changes in murine models of Alpha-1 deficiency and COPD. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in a variety of the field’s concepts, allowing for development of novel practices and procedures as well as being able to work independently with minimal supervision.
