Senior Analyst, Performance Audit – an unexpected next step in your career

We currently have a permanent vacancy for a Senior Analyst, Performance Audit. In this role you’ll be leading working in small teams on performance audits on the Auditor-General’s behalf. From day-to-day you could find yourself carrying out fieldwork in different parts of the State, meeting with people from a wide range of organisations, from frontline public servants to politicians, or briefing parliamentary committees. It’s a challenging role full of variety that gives you a unique view of the public sector in Tasmania.
For the successful candidate we will provide the training and tools for you to excel in this role including training and networking with peers from across Australasia. It’s an excellent early point or extension to your career.

Duties
Undertakes, as a member of a small team, allocated components of audits within cost, time and quality parameters.
Contributes to the planning of audits and identification of audit criteria.
Utilises information technology and computer systems to complete audit work, analyse data and prepare reports.
Completes elements of electronic audit files as directed by the audit team leader
Maintains working papers (in accordance with Office policy and relevant standards) to record evidence of audit work.
Assists in the identification and research of potential audit issues and contributes in developing options and recommendations.
Applies well-developed knowledge of public sector operations and responsibilities and audit evaluation and research methodologies to produce effective performance audits.
Maintains regular and professional relationships with personnel in organisations under review.
Drafts elements of reports or supports senior staff in drafting reports on the outcomes of audits for discussion with clients and for internal review prior to tabling in Parliament. Also, co-ordinates the process of tabling reports including preparing briefings and presentations.
Contributes to team cohesiveness and maintains professional and collaborative relationships within the Office.
Performance is measured against Key Performance Indicators that are developed and agreed to for each role in the Office and documented in annual Performance Plans.

Fixed term part time, shift-worker position working 48 hours per fortnight, commencing from 3rd June 2024 until 3rd June 2025

Salary: $75,902 - $102,908 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type
Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023 and Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Interim Agreement 2013

The Role
The Senior Advisor - Patient Safety contributes to the successful positioning of the Quality and Patient Safety service to provide high quality, accountable and measurable healthcare, both internally and externally, by:
Providing advice and direction to clinical areas to ensure operation of effective clinical services in accordance with the Department of Health and Quality and Patient Safety objectives.
Promoting and evaluating the patient safety agenda within their Quality and Patient Safety portfolio.
Coordinating the effective facilitation of their Quality and Patient Safety portfolio.
Developing and delivering training programs and projects to improve service delivery and mitigate risks within the scope of the assigned Quality and Patient Safety portfolio.

Classification Title:
Laboratory Technician III
Job Description:
This is a Lab Technician III position in a research lab developing immunotherapies for cancers. The Lab Technician III is expected to be able to 1) independently modify protocols to improve existing techniques or to incorporate new diagnostic procedures; 2) complete the execution of assigned experiments; 3) assist in maintaining a necessary rodent colony to achieve research objectives; 4) assist in performing rodent procedures as necessary to complete research objectives; 5) present researching findings to PI and at laboratory meetings; 6) maintain laboratory safety programs and train personnel in laboratory safety techniques; and 7) maintain detailed records of experiments. The Lab Technician III must be able to perform, mostly independently, the following essential functions:
Tissue culture: Performing tissue culture/cell culture of primary cells or cell lines using aseptic techniques. Perform multiparameter flow cytometry and develop proficiency setting multicolor flow panels. Perform RNA and DNA isolation as well as in vitro transcription. Plasmid bacterial infection, plasmid transduction, and cloning are requirements for this position.
Animal Studies: Participating in treating animals with pharmacological agents or immunotherapy through i.p., i.m., or i.v. injection. Plays a key role in regulatory management (IACUCs).
Histological Work/Analysis: Collecting organs and other tissues and preparing for histopathology Following the preparation of slides, staining with standard histology stains such as H&E, as well as with immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence will be done. Conduct image capture with fluorescent microscope, confocal microscope, multiphoton confocal microscope and analysis of tissue following intervention studies.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensures the laboratory is compliant with governing rules and regulations. Coordinate all IACUC and IRB (exempt) submissions/renewals. Ensure all EH&S standards are met.
Train new laboratory members to ensure compliance standards are met.
Training: Train and supervise graduate and undergraduate students performing diagnostic procedures related to immune therapy experiments.
Any other duties, as needed, to fulfill the mission and to abide by the values of the College of Medicine. This will include performing tasks and experiments as directed by the Principal Investigator.
Expected Salary:
$23.94 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
Associate’s degree in an appropriate area and four years of related experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of related experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated abilities in laboratory techniques
Exposure to applicable computer techniques, including specific software application
Appropriate communication skills
It will be given careful consideration to those applicants without the years of experience required above but who demonstrate strong research track record.
