Requirements

Good command of spoken & written English and Chinese. Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access of MS office

The Role
Reporting to the Team Leader - Information Management (IM) and in accordance with legislation, policy, regulations and processes, the Senior Data and Information Management Officer is responsible for:
The day-to-day information management activities required for the public health response to communicable diseases in Tasmania.
Contributing to the improvement and efficiency of data governance and collection of communicable diseases data.
Supporting data transformation, transfer and storage activities under the supervision of the Team Leader.

The Team
The Communicable Disease Prevention Unit (CDPU) comprises three divisions: Immunisation, Health Intelligence, and Response including Infection Prevention and Control. The primary purpose of the CDPU is to prevent and control communicable diseases within Tasmania. We actively engage with the public and collaborate closely with stakeholders to prevent and respond effectively to notifiable diseases.
The CDPU has delegated statutory responsibility for aspects of the Public Health Act 1997 and for the Poisons Regulations 2018 relating to immunisation. We receive notifications of diseases from laboratories and medical practitioners as stipulated in the Guidelines for Notifying Diseases and Food Contaminants.
As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Senior Data and Information Management Officer will:
Ensure that personal and sensitive information is collected, handled, managed, stored and /or destroyed according to relevant legislation and government policies.
Conduct data transformation, imports and exports across different databases and processing line lists from external stakeholders including hospitals, outbreak sites and others.

Fixed Term full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing from as soon as possible until 30 June 2027.

Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Clinical Lead – Medicine to work for the Department of Health (DoH)at the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH), Burnie. This role will require the successful applicant to work with the Clinical Director – Acute Medicine to assist with providing a high level of strategic leadership and direction, ensuring resources are efficiently utilised, services are effectively integrated within the hospital/service and the highest standards of service delivery are achieved in accordance with hospital/service policy directions, service standards and financial targets. In addition, the Clinical Lead will provide specialist general medicine care to patients attending the NWRH.
Servicing a population of approximately 116,000, the DoH North West, has major sites located approximately 50km apart, the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH) and the Mersey Community Hospital (MCH). The Department of Health – North West provides both acute and sub-acute general medicine, and a range of medical sub-specialty services including a large outpatient service. The Clinical Lead Acute Medicine NWRH will be responsible for leading the Department of Acute Medicine at the NWRH which includes a broad range of services: -

Gastroenterology and Hepatology
Respiratory
Nephrology
Endocrinology and Diabetes
Geriatric Medicine
Palliative Care
Cardiology
Infectious Diseases
The Department of Acute Medicine holds accreditation with RACP which includes accreditation for basic and advance physician training in general medicine. The NWRH is an accredited site for level 1 basic physician training, and the MCH an accredited secondment site for NWRH physician trainees. Both NWRH and MCH are accredited for advance training in general medicine. In addition, NWRH and MCH have supported RACP with the successful peer reviews of overseas trained physicians (general medicine and various sub-specialties).
This position will be attractive to highly skilled and motivated medical professionals who view challenges as opportunities and is driven by a passion to improve healthcare in the complex world of modern health systems. The right applicants will play a key role in developing health care at both patient and system levels. Subspecialty interests from the above list will be an advantage.
The DoH offers a comprehensive undergraduate and graduate clinical training program, with close ties to the University of Tasmania through the Rural Clinical School. As such, you will be responsible for providing leadership and help with the delivery of the Undergraduate general medical education program.
Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioners
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 - Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $222,789 - $319,701 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $309,222 - $319,701 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
Salary range is in accordance with Medical Practitioners Agreement 2025
In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available

The Role
The Executive Assistant provides high‑level administrative and confidential support to senior leaders within Women’s and Children’s Services.
