The Team
The Private Patient Liaison Nurse (PPLN) Service is based within the Integrated Operations Centre at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH), Tasmania’s largest hospital. The team supports patient‑centred care and helps improve access and flow across the Tasmanian health system by assisting patients with private health insurance or DVA coverage to understand their care options. PPLN CNCs provide clinical advice, assessment, education, and coordination to support safe and timely transitions from RHH to private hospitals and specialist services.
Working across Emergency, inpatient wards, Mental Health, and the Special Care Nursery, the team collaborates closely with multidisciplinary staff and contributes to high‑quality care, system capacity, and improved patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical advice on private health and DVA care options.
Assess patients for suitability for private pathways and transfer to private facilities and outpatient appointments
Identify and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the provision of care for acute care patients in the most appropriate setting.
Coordinate safe transitions to private hospitals and specialists.
Support patient flow and optimise bed availability.
Work collaboratively and autonomously across ED, wards, Mental Health, and SCN.
Provide staff education on private patient processes.
Liaise effectively with private hospitals, specialists, and insurers.
Maintain accurate documentation reporting and meet DoH requirements.
Contribute to service improvement and contemporary nursing leadership.
You will need:
Evidence of well-developed clinical management and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary team to provide a versatile, flexible service which enables care needs to be met in the most appropriate environment.
Demonstrated high level interpersonal and communication skills including mediation and conflict resolution skills, with proven ability to manage effectively within a diverse health service environment.
Demonstrated effective organisational skills with the ability to problem solve and apply principles of clinical risk management, quality improvement and research to the clinical setting and make independent and collaborative judgments.

Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 32 hours per fortnight, commencing in September 2026.

Salary
$118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Benefits available to eligible candidates:
Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.

The Role
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our rotational team, working across three diverse healthcare sites in North West Tasmania. As a Rotational Physiotherapist, you will undertake 4-month rotations across key clinical areas, including:

You will work closely with experienced physiotherapists and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred care. Each rotation is designed to build clinical confidence, foster professional growth, and support your transition into a well-rounded physiotherapy career.
