About This Role
Specialty Gardens Oversight
Assist in the development and implementation of a strategic vision for the specialty gardens, conference center, and greenhouse in collaboration with the Director and the steering committee, aligning with the overall mission and goals of the facility.
Establish and oversee work assignments for gardener/groundskeeper(s), volunteers, and FWS students, ensuring efficient and effective operations in concert with the Director.
Design and implement enhancements for specialty gardens, maintaining an optimum visual appearance throughout all seasons in concert with the Director.
Exercise leadership in plant selection, planting, and ongoing care in each specialty garden, demonstrating a keen eye for horticultural excellence.
Ensure comprehensive maintenance of specialty gardens and the overall garden, collaborating with UF Grounds and other relevant entities for specialized tasks.
Supervise the selection and application of herbicides and insecticides, adhering to sustainable and environmentally conscious practices.
Identify and engage appropriate external vendors for garden maintenance and enhancements when necessary, fostering strategic partnerships in concert with the Director.
Facilities Management and Security
Collaborate with garden staff to identify and address maintenance issues in the greenhouse, conference center, and storage areas, ensuring seamless operations.
Liaise with UF personnel and external vendors to promptly address and resolve maintenance problems, maintaining the highest standards of facility upkeep.
Develop preventive maintenance schedules for critical systems, including air-conditioning, heating, and lighting in buildings, to ensure uninterrupted functionality.
Establish and enforce security procedures for the gardens and facilities, defining staff responsibilities to guarantee a safe and secure environment.
Strategic Initiatives and Administration
Actively contribute to the planning and execution of semi-annual plant sales, leveraging expertise to enhance the success of these events.
Participate in the selection and acquisition of equipment for the maintenance of gardens, ensuring alignment with budgetary considerations and operational needs.
Conduct engaging garden tours for visitors and actively participate in fundraising events, promoting the facility's mission, and fostering community engagement.
Serve as a key member of the gardens' steering committee, providing valuable insights, and contributing to strategic decision-making.
Working with the Director, develop and manage yearly budgets for garden and facility maintenance, demonstrating fiscal responsibility and alignment with organizational goals.
Collaboratively with the Director, supervise and lead a team consisting of gardener/groundskeeper(s) and administrative specialist II (business manager), fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Minimum Requirements:
Master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelor’s degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of experience.

This is a 9-month tenure-accruing position that will be 80% research (Florida Agricultural Experiment Station) and 20% teaching (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) available in the Entomology and Nematology Department, Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, at the University of Florida in Gainesville FL, where tenure will accrue. The nature of the assignment may change in accordance with the changing needs of the department and IFAS.
The successful candidate must demonstrate evidence of strong training and experience with modern biological approaches to the study of integrated pest management of insects of importance in and around the built environment. Florida is regularly challenged with emerging and invasive urban pests. The incumbent will be expected to develop successful research and teaching programs with an emphasis on biology and management of urban and structural pests; they will have access to urban entomology endowment funds to support these programs. The candidate will be expected to engage in and contribute to addressing issues of importance to stakeholders in our state and to broader collaborative efforts related to urban pest management.
This is a broad-based search. Research areas could include, but are not limited to behavior, ecology, genetics, physiology and toxicology of urban/structural pests. Entomologists that are strongly motivated to address important questions promoting sustainable and integrated pest management-based solutions for urban pests are encouraged to apply. Urban pest management is a departmental strength at UF with 8 urban entomology faculty members and the incumbent will be expected to interact and synergize with these urban pest management programs. Opportunities exist for collaboration with urban entomologists on the Gainesville campus, at UF Research and Education Centers, IFAS County extension, regulators for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and the various urban pest management associations in Florida, nationally and internationally.
The successful candidate will participate actively in scholarly activities related to instruction, including chairing and serving on graduate committees, supervising undergraduate and graduate research and creative work, publishing results with graduate students, and engaging in professional development activities related to mentoring and advising. Course development and deployment will be negotiated based on a combination of the successful candidate’s areas of expertise and departmental curricular needs, including the potential for online and distance learning formats.
The faculty member will aggressively seek contract and grant funding to support their program and must consistently publish scientific publications both in peer-reviewed journals and other appropriate venues. Faculty are expected to participate in professional development activities such as training in mentoring, grant writing and intercultural competency.
UF/IFAS is a land-grant institution under which all faculty are expected to be supportive of and engaged in all three mission areas—Research, Teaching, and Extension—regardless of the assignment split specified in the position description.

The Entomology and Nematology Department has faculty associated with the Invasion Science Research Institute, and the Emerging Pathogens Institute, and is the home to the Center for Arthropod Management Technologies.

Minimum Requirements:
Ph.D. (foreign equivalent acceptable) in Entomology or related field, with experience in urban pest management. Candidates must have demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships, publication in peer-reviewed journals, and procurement of extramural funding. Candidates must have the aptitude and motivation necessary for cooperation with a varied group of stakeholders, including the pest control industry, technology providers, county extension personnel, staff, faculty, and statewide colleagues. Candidates must also have a commitment to UF core values. Familiarity with urban pests or arthropods of regulatory concern; including but not limited to termites, ants, cockroaches, wood destroying beetles, stored product pests, occasional invaders, nuisance, biting and venomous arthropods in the urban environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
Known leader in urban pest management. Postdoctoral experience.

The University of Florida, Department of Pediatrics is pleased to announce a faculty opening for a full-time Pediatric Psychologist in the Section of Behavioral and Developmental Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics. This position will be a non-tenure track at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary behavioral health team that is co-located and integrated into a large, multi-site general pediatrics practice within an academic medical center. Patients are referred to the team by general pediatrics providers and pediatrics subspecialty providers within and outside of UFHealth.
The psychologist will provide a broad range of outpatient behavioral health services to children, adolescents and their families, including triage, consultation, care coordination, DSM 5 diagnostic assessments, psychological testing, problem-focused, evidence-based interventions, and referrals to other behavioral health and general pediatrics providers at UF Health and in the community as needed. Assignment will be comprised of clinical assessment and evaluation, psychosocial therapies, research, teaching and administrative activities.

The Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is a level 5 tertiary Hospital within the Tasmanian Role Delineation Framework. The LGH has 349 inpatient beds, 117.7 presentations to the Emergency Department daily, 5 births daily.
There are many specialty services including general medicine, rehabilitation, neurology and acute stroke management, surgery and women's and children's services.

Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $210,000 - $301,349 per annum, pro rata + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging pro rata
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $291,472 -$301,349 per annum pro rata is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022
