Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

The Role:

We are seeking a motivated and experienced General Practitioner (GP) – Registrar with an interest in working in the Community Palliative Care area. In this role, on a day to day basis you will be responsible for liaising and collaborating with treating doctors for both public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital and Community.

We are seeking a motivated and experienced General Practitioner (GP) – Registrar with an interest in working in the Community Palliative Care area. In this role, on a day to day basis you will be responsible for liaising and collaborating with treating doctors for both public inpatients and outpatients within the Hospital and Community.

The Specialist Palliative Care Service is an accredited GPTT training site. This position is accredited with both rural colleges, RACGP and ACRRM, for 6 months extended skills or 12 months Advanced Skills training. DoH – North West Region also has a close working relationship with the University of Tasmania’s Rural Clinical School. Multiple positions on offer with the ability to undertake 6 month or 12 month contracts.

Details of Appointment:

Fixed term full-time day worker position working 80 hours per fortnight until February 2023

Salary: $95,697-$135,411 per annum + 10% superannuation + access to salary packaging

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  1. General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  2. Enrolled in the relevant speciality training program

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  1. Participant of current General Practitioner training or current Rural Generalist Registrar or a current General Practitioner.
  2. Has successfully completed all fellowship examinations relevant to their training program and employment and is within 1 year of obtaining specialist fellowship.
  3. Current Driver’s Licence

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    • crimes of violence
    • sex related offences
    • serious drug offences
    • crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
