Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

Salary

$99,736 to $106,036 pro-rata per annum

in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service Agreement) 2019

Period of Employment

Permanent, full-time, day work working 76 hours per fortnight commencing ASAP

N/NW Tasmania (can be based in Launceston, Burnie, Devonport)

Duties

The Clinical Nurse Consultant Safety & Quality will work within a Safety and Quality Framework, this will include taking a role in the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of quality assurance mechanisms that underpin a quality improvement program which is consistent with service delivery plans and priorities. Working collaboratively with the CHaPS N/NW NUM’s in developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical practice standards.

The Clinical Nurse Consultant Safety and Quality will directly report to the Assistant Director of Nursing CHaPS N/NW to assure high quality, effective and efficient patient care.

  • Apply a clinical safety and quality perspective to all facets of the CHaPS.

  • Coordinate and monitor the safety event monitoring program including identification and investigation of serious incidents and implementation of ratified recommendations.

  • Facilitate and coordinate the introduction, implementation, and monitoring of patient safety initiatives across the CHaPS.

  • Coordinate client feedback whilst ensuring appropriate and timely responses.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

Desirable Requirements

Holds, or is working towards, relevant postgraduate qualifications
