About the roles

Here's a flavour of some of the exciting initiatives you could be involved in, for each Division.

CORPORATE SERVICES IT (Reading, Perth, Havant) - we are responsible for managing and securing the IT infrastructure across the whole SSE Group. From emerging technologies to data & analytics to cyber security – we power SSE’s growth and enable it to generate value, while keeping it secure. As a trusted business partner that helps SSE lead in a low carbon world, we are proud of our service. By joining our team, you will help SSE deliver on its promise to equip SSE with the technology needed now, and in the future.

We are looking for candidates with any IT related degree such as Information Systems/Technology, Computer Science/Systems, Electronic Systems, Applied Computing, Software Engineering, Business Administration/Management in IT or Project/Programme Management in IT, with particular interest in those related to Cyber Security/Hacking/IT Forensics, Data Science/Analytics and Digital/Agile. We have several learning pathways you could nominate to follow, such as Cyber Risk and Information Security, Project and Programme Management, Digital and Agile, and Management and Leadership, as well as a general pathway covering all aspects of IT.

Enterprise Distribution Energy(Glasgow, Reading, Altringham): We are delivering the next generation of sustainable energy infrastructure to businesses across the UK. We are a growing business and operate in some really exciting markets from EV to energy storage, from heating and cooling networks to water networks - our business is certainly diverse.

For these programmes we are looking for candidates with a degree in electrical, electronic, mechanical, control & instrumentation, environmental management, data science, data analytics, IT, computing science.

SSEN Transmission (Glasgow, Perth, Inverness): You will work with business teams to identify data, data quality and potential applications for internal and external stakeholders. Ideally you'll have some experience in cyber security, data and data analytics and should have a degree in cyber security, engineering, maths, computing science, Information technology, data and data analytics.

What do I need to join?

For these programmes, you'll ideally have a minimum of a 2:2 in the degree disciplines listed for each stream.

You'll be passionate about technology, have a genuine interest in IT and Digital and will be looking to put this into practice in a business environment, where we are focussing on developing technologies and infrastructure that supports the business in meeting the UK net-zero ambitions.

We’d love you to have practical work or project experience that reflects your passion for all this tech, as well as demonstrable experience of working in a team. You’ll also be comfortable working to and setting stretching individual targets and using your own initiative to overcome challenges.

You should have an interest in how technology can benefit and improve the energy sector, and show alignment with SSE's core values. We also ask that you have a flexible approach to work locations and be genuinely committed to developing a career with us – as we are with you.
