What is the Role?

We have an exciting opportunity for a Noise and Wind Analyst to join the Technical Analysis team in Capital Projects, supporting SSE Renewables' extensive pipeline of wind farm projects in their development, construction and operational phases.

Your role will be to perform noise analysis and modelling on wind farm and substation development projects in line with internal analysis and reporting procedures, identifying risks and ensuring any financial impacts arising from mitigation measures are understood. You'll also commission, manage and review noise assessments from independent consultants when required.

The role will include developing the team's capabilities through improving internal processes and mentoring other team members.

On occasion, you may need to travel for survey activities and to build and support relations with operational staff and planning authorities or other stakeholders.

In addition, you will have the opportunity to support the team through analysis of measured wind data (from meteorological masts or remote sensing devices), producing wind farm layout designs, conducting wind flow and energy modelling, performing turbine suitability assessments, reviewing turbine tender returns and performing in-house R&D as necessary.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Degree level qualification in a technical discipline, and have experience working as an acoustician in the development of wind farms or electricity networks.

- Demonstrable numerical and computer literacy and be comfortable with data processing and analysis techniques.

- Knowledge of CadnaA or SoundPLAN would be beneficial, as would coding experience with Matlab or similar.

- Knowledge of UK and/or Irish planning guidance and policy documents including ETSU-R-97, the IOA Good Practice Guide, Wind Energy Development Guidelines, BS5228 and BS4142 is beneficial.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to liaise with a variety of stakeholders and interact and share information with multi-disciplined project teams.

- A proactive mindset, self-motivated, with the ability to problem solve and deal with conflicting demands, demonstrate excellent attention to detail and report writing skills.

- You will occasionally visit the sites you support, so it is desirable that you can travel and have access to reliable transport.
