Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

Salary

$66,421 to $91,807 pro-rata per annum in accordance with the Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service Agreement) 2019

  • Access to the Grade 4 salary range $82,129 - $86,857 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4.

Period of Employment

Fixed term, full-time, day work, working up to 76 hours per fortnight commencing ASAP for a period of 12 months.

Duties

The Registered Nurse - Child and Family Health Nurse:

  • Consistent with ongoing experience strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with clients, their families and other health professionals within the child and family health practice area.

In the role of Registered Nurse - Child and Family Health Nurse you will:

      • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate health care in collaboration with individuals/groups, families and communities.
      • Practice in accordance with the NMBA codes and guidelines for registered nurses and midwives.
      • Involve families/significant others in the planning and implementation of child-centred health care.
      • Contribute to the maintenance and promotion of a safe work environment.
      • Understand and adhere to relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
      • Maintain accurate and objective documentation.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty
e) Serious traffic offences

2. Identification check

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check

4. Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

5. Current Driver’s Licence

Desirable Requirements

  • Holds a recognised child and family health nursing qualification or is working towards same
