Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

Hours/Period of Appointment

Permanent Full-time Day Worker with on call working 76 hours per fortnight.

Who Are We Looking For?

The Department of Health – North West are seeking Career Medical Officers in Psychiatry (General). Broad experience in Adult, Older Persons', Child and Adolescent and Inpatient mental health is highly desirable.

This position provides a unique opportunity to work across our diverse sites, ensuring the CMO maximum exposure to advance their skills. The CMO will be fully supported by Consultants, and DOH-North West offer excellent Continuing Professional Development benefits and a supportive working environment.

In this role the CMO will demonstrate their experience and skills in adult and general psychiatry. They will demonstrate the ability to work with psychiatric clients, complex presentations with enduring serious mental illness and associated behavioural problems, working with minimal supervision.

The CMO will also promote and maintain close links with specialists, general practitioners and service providers to ensure continuity of patient care and the ongoing development of the mental health sector.

Please note a requirement - minimum 10 years post graduate experience.
