About the role

The Research Fellow will be a member of the Melbourne Brain Centre research team at The Royal Melbourne Hospital, and will be expected to work with other researchers within the University Department of Medicine, and elsewhere within the University and nationally and internationally. This is an initial 12month position with the possibility of extension beyond this.

The position will contribute to the optimisation planning of new telehealth and aeromedical capabilities, and development of models useful to underpin a national network of specialised hyperacute stroke resources. The position involves working closely with MBC and affiliated multidisciplinary research teams to deliver the outcomes for Stage 2 of the Research Program and will involve liaising with stakeholders in partner organisations such as the Royal Flying Doctor Service and Ambulance Victoria.

The Melbourne Brain Centre at Royal Melbourne Hospital (MBC) is a Centre for Research Excellence in the neurosciences based at the RMH. The MBC leads the Australian Stroke Alliance. The Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) support has been provided to conduct a large-scale national research program focussed on innovative new technologies to enable early intervention in stroke. The Research Fellow will contribute expertise in health analytics and simulation modelling through implementing advanced simulation, data science, and analytics models for optimising stroke air and land ambulance location and deployment.
