Job Description:

Following an announcement by the Tasmanian Government, a Public Health Direction was issued on 10 September 2021 requiring that all Health Workers are vaccinated against COVID-19. This step is critical in protecting both our health workforce and vulnerable Tasmanians in our care.

Applicants for any position within the Department of Health must be prepared to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of their employment.

Salary

$92,321 to $97,577 per annum

Please note this position attracts a 6.5% correctional allowance

Period of Employment

Permanent, full-time, shift work (fully rotational), working 76 hours per fortnight commencing as soon as possible.

Please note that part time hours may be considered.

Please also note that this process may be used to fill fixed term and casual opportunities as they arise.

Wilfred Lopes Centre

The Wilfred Lopes Centre is Tasmanias only Forensic Secure Mental Health Unit which offers free onsite parking and attracts an additional Correctional Allowance of 6.5%. The centre undertakes mental health assessment and stabilisation of individuals who are in custody and also focuses on rehabilitation / reintegration of individuals who are on forensic orders.

Duties

The Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) is an experienced nurse who, within the defined area of practice:

  • Assists the Nurse Unit Manager with the day-to-day management and coordination of resources to ensure optimal patient care.

  • Coordinates patient/client centred care delivery and flow.

  • Ensures the maintenance of effective communication channels with internal and external stakeholders to promote patient/client care delivery.

  • Provides a high level of clinical knowledge and skill to ensure clinical standards and policies and procedures to promote a patient focused model of care according to best practice principles.

  • Acts as a role model and clinical resource person to provide clinical advice, recommendations and effective utilisation of resources.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (where applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).

It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty

Desirable Requirements

  • Holds or is working towards relevant post graduate qualifications.
