Job Description:

Under the supervision of the UF/IFAS Web Manager, will work on a web team as a content coordinator, strategist, writer, and maintainer. The content specialist will audit content across the UF/IFAS digital web platform by reviewing all resources available and propose solutions that are realistic within the current structure of our digital platform. The candidate will support marketing plans that drive engagement, site traffic, and produce content on web pages ensuring usability and accuracy. The content strategist will write content appropriately geared to Florida residents statewide.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Research, inventory, and analyze existing content. Evaluate content and propose solutions that increase content cohesion.
  • Implement a content strategy to help develop great digital experiences to successfully impact Florida residents state-wide. Content should be composed in a fashion that is shareable across multiple digital platforms and includes an appropriate SEO keyword strategy.
  • Set-up the parameters and strategy on how to manage individual content for the long-term after connecting with subject matter experts.
  • Work with staff state-wide to create and post content for IFAS websites. Write appropriately for digital platforms using a clear, simple, and straightforward style.
  • Procure existing content and edit/adapt the information for public audiences.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Connect existing digital resources and use them appropriately.
  • Understand business and technical requirements to supply appropriate content.
  • Understand issues that are important to Florida residents statewide relating to agriculture, natural resources, nutrition and healthy lifestyles, landscaping and conservation, sustainability, fiscal management, and more.
  • Content Strategy:
    • Translate UF/IFAS stories and ideas into inspirational and conversion drivers that are appropriate for different devices and sustains the vibe for an emotional connection.
    • Focus on website goals from a business and user point of view, to help define how content should be organized, positioned, and made relevant.
    • Create structure using taxonomies and other classification schemes, relationships (ontologies), so content can easily be cross-linked and dynamically served within the site as well as more effectively integrated in cases of syndication.

Identify what the most popular topics are and how to optimize our content to meet these demands and movement between related materials.

Expected Salary:

$13-15/hr; commensurate with education and/or experience level.

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Tasks require appropriate experience and/or familiarity with updating web content, web writing, content strategy, and digital content coordination.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills (with technical and non-technical team members).

An eye for basic design aesthetics with the ability to crop and place images.

The ability to work collaboratively and independently.

User Interface (UI) and User Experience (UX) knowledge preferable.

Special Instructions to Applicants:

This is a temporary part-time (20 hours per week) position. Work hours will be flexible within the Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm work week.
