Job Description:

The Department of Pediatrics is seeking candidates for an IT Professional I position. This position includes responsibilities in two or more IT related functions within the Pediatrics Department that involves systems design, systems and network administration, programmer/analyst, IT support, and multimedia. This position works with minimal supervision on work assignments, reviews progress and results with management as appropriate. Also responsible for all devices within the Department of Pediatrics and contracted programs.

Duties to include:

  • Evaluating equipment, components, and software for new solutions to complex information systems. Interfacing with vendors to resolve hardware and software problems. Completing both simple helpdesk requests and projects that are more complex in a timely, professional manner. Communicate with users effectively and regularly until project or request is complete. Minimize revisits related to the same project. Properly documents progress, notes, and resolution of helpdesk tickets. Interfaces with University organizations to resolve service related issues. Communicates with users effectively and regularly until project or request is complete. In coordination with the IT Manager, participates in plans for implementation of, and ensures compliance with University, college and/or departmental security and configuration policies. Installs, evaluates, and applies software and application updates. Assists in the selection, installation and maintenance standards on software/hardware applications and network systems. Designs, plans, installs, debugs, and troubleshoots operations support and automation systems, systems software, hardware applications and support products. Installs, evaluates, and applies software and application updates, ensures back-up and recovery capabilities.
  • Assists in the development of plans, schedules and requirements for the deployment and lifecycles of systems. Develops design requirements on in as need basis. Maintains familiarity with software standards and procedures. Maintains programs and scripts to aid in systems management. Coordinates and advises with the IT Manager on strategies for implementing multimedia technology across a range of programs and initiatives. Updates and expands Peds IT documentation and Wiki pages. Responsible for UF SLS for the Department of Pediatrics. Responsible for software inventory tools (UFEM/SCCM). Configure and setup Mac and Windows operating systems. Supports an extensive variety of peripherals like printers, scanners, copiers, projectors, faxes and latest Smartphone devices.
  • Interface with AHC on joint IT tasks. Provide personalized IT support to several Pediatrics divisions with diverse needs and technologies. Offsite travel to contracted programs that are supported by the Pediatrics IT Division.
  • Maintain troubleshooting skillsets at a level appropriate to today’s technology. Adherence to best practices and rules within the Department and Peds IT. Part of the On-call team for after-hours work stoppages for department users.
Expected Salary:

$45,000 - $50,000 annually; commensurate within this range based on qualifications and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred candidates must have completed college level network systems administration coursework or possess an equivalent certification, such as an A+ or MCP. Windows and Mac OS’s. In addition, preferred candidates will possess superior interpersonal communication skills.
