Job Description:

The role:

Responsible for the day to day management of private and public inpatients and outpatients within the allocated site/facility. Provide after-hours emergency as determined by the relevant work unit.

The hospital:

The Tasmanian Health Service – North West Region encompasses two hospitals, the North West Regional Hospital (NWRH), in Burnie and the Mersey Community Hospital in Latrobe.

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is located at the NWRH and has 8 fully staffed beds with a general case-mix of patients including (but not limited to) the following:

• Sepsis and multi-system failure
• Elective and Emergency surgeries
• Acute Cardiac emergencies
• Obstetric emergencies
• Paediatrics (Limited)
• Elective procedures such as Cardioversion, Peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC), Central venous lines, Intercostal catheters

The unit is accredited by the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM), for basic, elective and foundation components of intensive care training.

Our trainees are actively involved in ward rounds and patient assessment and management and find they are well prepared for further registrar training opportunities.

Details of Appointment:

Fixed Term Full Time Day Worker (with on-call) position working 80 hours per fortnight

Salary: $95,697-$135,411 per annum + 10% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  1. General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  2. Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.

Successful applicants may meet the desirable criteria:

  1. Current Driver’s Licence

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    • Crimes of violence
    • Sex related offences
    • Serious drug offences
    • Crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
