Salary:£45,200 - £67,800 + car/allowance + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing.

What is the Role?

SSE Renewables Engineering & Innovation team provide a wide range of specialist engineering and technical services to support the business including through life cycle asset management. We drive SSE Renewables Innovation agenda and take responsibility for Design Assurance as well as the resourcing and delivery of all engineering requirements across the capital portfolio. We are also focused on creating an engineering Centre of Excellence for SSE Renewables

As our Lead Project Engineer you will provide knowledge and experience in the development and execution phases of Floating Offshore Wind Projects. You will support the SSE Renewables businesses through acting as a focal point to achieve project objectives, whilst also ensuring value engineering and innovation are incorporated in the design of floating offshore facilities.

Some of your other main accountabilities will include:

- Responsibility for managing the delivery of all engineering design development activities required under the Large Capital Projects Governance Framework for several early stage floating wind farm developments, as these projects develop you'll be accountable for ensuring the coordination and delivery of all ongoing design development activities from each package engineering team.

- Managing the development and execution of a Floating Wind Technology development strategy designed to deliver commercially ready engineering solutions for the 1st generation of commercial scale floating offshore wind projects at SSE.

- Providing effective management of our multi-discipline project engineering team across a number of project packages, providing engineering assurances to the Design Authority that the project technology choice and design solution will deliver against stated project objectives and returns.

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

- Chartered Engineer status or have a clear path to achieve this.

- Significant experience and exposure in floating offshore wind or similar oil and gas application of floating technology, with a detailed understanding of integrated design processes, transportation and installation techniques.

- Experience of technology development programmes and engineering innovation which drives out cost and improves performance.

- Knowledge and experience of relevant legislation and industry good practice along with understanding of the commercial context and implications of engineering activities and decisions.

- Outstanding interpersonal, influencing and communication skills, which you'll be capable of adapting to all management levels and situations, and specifically where there is a need to manage, mediate and influence in high pressure environments.

- Excellent organisation skills will be essential, along with the ability to deliver quality work to the agreed timescales.
