Job Description:

The Tasmanian Health Service is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for an Allied Health Professional – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services vacancy

Please note this position is also being advertised as a Clinical Nurse Specialist – Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (502814) and only one position will be filled on merit.

Salary

$94,469 to $111,765 pro-rata, per annum

Please note that access to salaries beyond $105,158 is subject to completion of a relevant Graduate Diploma or application to the personal upgrade scheme in accordance with Schedule 8 of the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2019

Period of Employment

Permanent, full time, day work, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 27 September 2021.

Fixed term, part time, day work, working 53.2 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 1 December 2021.

Please also that this process may be used to fill fixed term and casual opportunities as they arise.

Duties

As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with the Mental Health Services Strategic Plan, Mental Health Service principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Allied Health Professional will:

  • Undertake the delivery of quality care to clients of the Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment and Older Persons Mental Health Service based on best practice principles and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.

  • Provide a specialist assessment and treatment service to clients of Child and Adolescent, Adult Community, Inpatient and Extended Treatment and Older Persons Mental Health Service and their families or carers.

  • Promote community awareness in relation to mental health and act as a consultant to other agencies about the support and management of clients with mental health needs.

  • Ensure the delivery of a comprehensive clinical service through the provision of assessment, case management and individual therapies, including specialised therapies for clients and their families or carers.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia; or

  • Degree in Social Work giving eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers; or

  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.

  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

a) Crimes of Violence
b) Sex Related Offences
c) Serious Drug Offences
d) Crimes involving dishonesty

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

  • Current Driver’s Licence.
