Job Duties

  • This position requires working directly with the public in person and sitting at a reception desk.
  • Answering general directional and building policy questions at the reference and circulation desk in-person and by telephone.
  • Referring in-depth or complex questions to library staff.
  • Checking books in and out, shelving, and shifting.
  • Assisting with other general library duties and/or projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Length Of Employment: Ongoing FWS position beginning Summer 2021

Hours: Mon.-Fri. between 8am-6pm for 12-15 hours per week (on-site only); weekend hours may be required in the Fall semester.

Expected Salary:

$9.15 per hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • Federal Work Study Program REQUIRED - NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Must be dependable and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a diverse patronage and library staff
  • Ability to manage time and commitments including scheduled work hours
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Ability to work independently once trained
  • Computer skills
  • Commitment to a diverse workplace
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with the public
  • Experience working with a diverse community
  • Previous experience in any library setting
  • Reading knowledge of languages other than English
