Job Description:

Coordinate and implement the design and development of multimedia materials for customers, particularly faculty members and leadership in the College of Public Health and Health Professions (PHHP). Part of the dean’s office instructional design team. Collaborate with faculty members, staff members, and other college constituents at all levels in coordinating and implementing audio-visual (A/V) media development and production.

  • Produce a range of video products for the college for the purpose of education, training, professional development, marketing, research and outreach. Handle scripting, video capturing, and post-production. Work collaboratively with deans, faculty, staff and students to develop and deliver these products.
  • Demonstrate appropriate use of multimedia tools and equipment, both in the studio and for on-location video production; as well as internet–based learning / teaching tools. Provide training and support to faculty, staff and students to ensure optimal use of the multimedia tools and equipment for course design and development, marketing and research. Support studio and equipment maintenance, as well as purchasing of replacement and new equipment. Help maintain studio schedule.
  • Oversee post-production of video products, including editorial decisions. Post video products to online platforms, support closed captioning requests, track and anticipate faculty needs for studio use to ensure course content is posted in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with the instructional design team to ensure customer needs related to course production and implementation are met, and that technical issues and solutions are collaboratively managed; Keep supervisor abreast of video projects and other relevant work-related events.
  • Stay abreast of emerging techniques and applications to enhance quality of course development and implementation and visual representation of web and other video media; advise and make recommendations to faculty members and leadership on emerging opportunities or new uses of existing technology, paying particular attention to gaining efficiencies in operations and design.
Expected Salary:

$22.60 - $24.50 hourly, commensurate with education, skills, and experience

Minimum Requirements:

High school diploma and three years of relevant experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

EDUCATION & TRAINING: Bachelor’s degree or higher (or equivalent experience)

EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with Canvas, MediaSite and WordPress
  • Experience collaborating with a design team

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of emerging technologies

SKILLS:

  • Expertise working in multiple academic environments, including both online and blended learning environments, websites, and other media outlets
  • Effective critical thinking skills
  • Appropriate organizational skills (to manage projects)
  • Appropriate interpersonal skills (to work with a wide variety of people)
  • Facile with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Premiere, Photoshop, Audition and AfterEffects
  • Facile with multiple media modalities, such as graphics, photos, animations, captured video, interactive graphics, and Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) pages
  • Strong production skills (video cameras, audio and lighting equipment; documentation, story-telling, didactic instruction, and creative solutions)
  • Strong post-production skills (making editorial decisions, adding effects/animation, non-linear software editing)

ABILITIES: Ability to work completely independently when needed, and collaborate with colleagues

PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS: Need to be able to lift up to 20lbs, use step ladder, pull equipment on cart to various locations in the Academic Health Center
