Job Description:

We are looking for a Scientific Database Curator to join the Cellular Structure & 3D Bioimaging team at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI).

EMBL-EBI is a world-leader in archiving and disseminating 3D biomacromolecular and cellular structure data. The Cellular Structure & 3D Bioimaging team plays a key role in the dissemination of 3DEM data through the EMDB (emdb-empiar.org) and EMPIAR (empiar.org) public archives. We develop and provide advanced tools and web-resources for searching, analyzing and visualizing structural data for the benefit of structural biologists and the wider scientific community. You will be joining an international team consisting of an inter-disciplinary mix of professionals (scientists and IT specialists).  

The post holder will work on the annotation and remediation of EMPIAR entries. The post holder will also contribute to related training, user experience and testing, social media and outreach activities of the team.  

Applicants should have a Masters/PhD degree in a structural biology related field (e.g., X-ray crystallography, NMR and 3DEM) and some experience in cryo-EM. Excellent written and oral communication skills, fluency in English, ability to work in a team, and attention to detail are required.  

Previous experience of structural biology would be beneficial, as would the demonstrated ability to take initiative, learn quickly and adapt to new challenges.
