Job Description:

The UF Office of Academic Support (OAS) is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as our Media Coordinator. OAS offers students the guidance and assistance necessary to achieve their academic goals. We provide academic support services that include tutoring, coaching, workshops and two student success programs (UF PROMISE & UF Student Support Services) to aid in student transition, retention and degree completion.

This position will work as part of OAS staff to create and oversee media and marketing initiatives; includes both developing promotional materials and making website updates. The candidate is expected to offer a creative strategy and vision for future communications for OAS. The candidate will also manage social media content across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for all OAS events and relevant updates. The Media Coordinator will be expected to work approximately 30-40 hours weekly.

The Media Coordinator will have various duties, which include, but are not limited to, the following preferred qualifications:

  • Producing and designing OAS flyers, handouts, brochures, and other marketing or promotional materials

  • Utilizing Photoshop, PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Suite and other software to meet graphic design objectives.

  • Posting regularly on OAS social media accounts to promote student engagement

  • Capturing photographs at OAS events for future media-related content

  • Updating OAS office display monitors with upcoming events and information

  • Managing minor design and user interface components of our OAS website

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated individual with foundational communications knowledge and a passion for working with multimedia platforms.

This role requires content writing and management skills and graphic design, software, and basic web-coding knowledge. This position will involve extensive collaboration with other Office of Academic Support team members.

Project/Task Management

  • Applies basic project management concepts and establishes procedures

  • Develops, monitors and adjusts project plans with assistance

  • Set milestones to meet deadlines and produce quality deliverables

  • Manages multiple tasks concurrently.

Hours are semi-flexible, but must adhere to agreed-upon schedule.

Expected Salary:

$15.00 - $18.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Ideal candidates will have experience with content management systems, media publications, communications and social media. Experience with Terminal 4 web development is ideal. A portfolio is required to demonstrate application.

Preferred Qualifications:

Must have creativity and imagination, be adaptable to new techniques and goals, and have good interpersonal and communication skills concurrent with the latest trends in web design and media.

Previous experience creating and maintaining websites, writing and programming code, either from scratch or by adapting existing website software and graphics packages (HTML and CSS), using image editing software (such as Photoshop), and attention to detail.

An educational background related to advertising, media relations, marketing, computer science or graphic design is preferred.
