Job Description:

An opportunity is available for an O & G Senior Resident Medical Officer at the Royal Hobart Hospital.

The SRMO will work on the resident roster however will be expected to fill a registrar role if there is a gap due to unexpected leave in the registrar roster. The SRMO will be rostered to allow the appropriate clinical experience to enable the step up the senior position as required and to develop a degree of independent practice.

As senior resident the successful applicant will be expected to compile the resident roster with consultant assistance, manage leave and encourage participation of residents in educational and unit activities.

The SRMO will be expected the meet with new residents at the beginning of rotation and to meet regularly with the O&G resident cohort.

It is expected that the SRMO will undertake appropriate audit and research activities.

Classification

Medical Practitioner Level 5 (Senior RMO Year 1) to Level 8 (Senior RMO Year 4)

Salary

$95,697 to $113,591 per annum

Period of Employment

Fixed-term, full-time (80 hours per fortnight), commencing 31 January 2022 until
30 January 2023

Essential Requirements

Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer of any new criminal convictions and/or if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

  • General or unconditional registration with the Medical Board of Australia and has had a minimum of 4 years’ relevant post graduate experience.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration.
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    1. crimes of violence
    2. sex related offences
    3. serious drug offences
    4. crimes involving dishonesty
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check.

Desirable Requirements

  • Preferable - 6 months of experience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology
