Job Description:

The successful applicant will take a leadership role in subacute services, contributing to strategic planning and service development in partnership with allied health, medical and nursing colleagues and leading a team of speech pathologists who work on the subacute wards of the Royal Hobart Hospital and offsite facilities. This position is around 50% clinical, with the opportunity to maintain specialist skills in rehabilitation or palliative care. It is one of two Deputy Manager positions in the Speech Pathology Service, and one of a select group of Allied Health leadership positions in subacute care.


$109,108 to $116,218 pro-rata, per annum

Please note that access to the progression point of Year 4Q salary of $116,218 is subject to successful completion of a relevant Master’s Degree as with Clause 10 of the Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2019

Period of Employment

Permanent, part time, day work, working 60.8 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.


Speech Pathology – Royal Hobart Hospital


Assist the Discipline Lead, Speech Pathology Services, with coordination and management of the speech pathology service, including supervision of staff and students.

Responsible for the efficient and effective functioning of a group of speech pathologists working in multidisciplinary teams, providing leadership and direction and ensuring a high standard of service provision.

Provide clinical leadership and professional support and ensure best practice standards for speech pathology services provided, in accordance with organisational policies and the professional code of conduct.

Represent the broader Allied Health team as directed.

Essential Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Applied Science, Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligibility for membership of the Speech Pathology Association (SPA).

3. Disciplinary action in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

  • Relevant post graduate qualifications in staff supervision/management.
  • Current Driver’s Licence.
