Job Description:

Salary: $85,134 - $92,154 p.a. or $93,935 - $101,684 p.a. plus superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.

The University of Melbourne Centre for Cancer Research (UMCCR) is seeking a genomics assistant/specialist to provide research support to the genomics team and the newly established Illumina-University of Melbourne Genomics Hub.

The UMCCR’s focus is to improve cancer patient outcome through Cancer Genome Discovery, Translation and Personalised Medicine through research and innovation within the Melbourne's biomedical precinct. Supporting the program manager, you will be working within the genomics core to assist scientific, technical and administrative staff where required, in order to maximise the efficiency and productivity of the Centre as a whole. Being flexible, adaptable and resourceful, you will enjoy the acquisition of new technologies and the challenge of turning your hand to different tasks. Next generation sequencing and a variety of other molecular techniques will be used.

The Genomics assistant will work within a small team, be required to have meticulous attention to detail, a keen work ethic and maintain good laboratory records in accordance with the standards required for a NATA accredited laboratory.
