Platform Manager – Risk and Trading
An opportunity is available for a 12 month secondment backfill for Platform Manager – Risk & Trading, leading a large team that are part of driving strategic change in R&T globally, through a global change program we call Alium.
Change Management is key to this role, 2021 is going be focussed on transformation for the Risk & Trading Platform as Alium takes the wins from 2020 to drive new capability adoption and define, prove and rollout the innersourcing model from R&T Tech teams across PPB, Sportsbet & FanDuel. This secondment role is critical in continuing to drive that change – 2021 is going to be a big year!
Alongside this, the R&T Platform team will be part of delivering strategic outcomes including a new NBA model with FanDuel, Risk Ecosystem and new investment in our Racing Platforms.

The Team
The Platform Manager team will be accountable for at least 2 delivery teams of 8 people with diverse skillsets who utilise agile ways of working to deliver Sportsbet’s product set, internal tooling and overall platform health. As a Platform Manager, keeping a focus on growing individuals, building team dynamics, prioritising a platform backlog with multiple inputs, enabling delivery teams, and collaborating across a wide range of functions are key success factors.
What is the role?
Leadership of cross functional team that is empowered and accountable for decisions and outcomes on what will best serve the foundations of the platform and experience trends for our customers. This includes broad foundational technology changes and roadmaps for our rick & trading platforms, self-service toolsets for other teams to consume/build on, and supporting the delivery of best in class customer experiences.
- Create an environment where the Platform team is empowered to self-manage, and sets up Customer Experience teams to more effectively self-manage
- Responsible for ensuring the team has clearly defined platform success criteria and objectives, as well as continually ensuring those criteria are being met
- Create, prioritise and maintain backlogs to ensure alignment with customer outcome and provide delivery insight (estimates & progress, risks/issues, dependencies, etc.)
- Provide ongoing insight to stakeholders on outcome progress and/or team health
- Align with other Platform teams and Customer Experience Teams to ensure cross team collaboration through mechanisms such as Scrum of Scrums
- Manage stakeholder expectations e.g. connection with multiple backlog owners and Product Management functions to facilitate intake and reporting of work
- Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver on customer outcomes

Be a constructive and highly motivated member of both the Platform Extended Leadership Team and Technology Extended Leadership Team by:
- Collaborating proactively with Platform LT colleagues, including those in other Platform teams
- Assembling around $1$1to maximise results for the organisation
In the context of the Platform Team, develop strong and robust relationship with all stakeholders to ensure:
- Platform priorities and goals are aligned, clearly articulated with commercial, technical, and Customer Experience Team enablement success measures identified
- Platform roadmap, strategic direction and practices are aligned with other Platform teams and any dependencies/enablers are managed properly with the Platform Extended Leadership Team
- Idea/Exploration, delivery and support practices, including planning, prioritisation, customer feedback, incident management etc are in place, effective and well understood by teams and relevant stakeholders
