The Team:

The Royal Hobart Hospital is the tertiary referral hospital in Tasmania. The hospital provides all general and specialty medical and surgical services as well as paediatrics, obstetrics and psychiatry. It is also the state’s tertiary trauma centre.

The Emergency Department (ED) provides a tertiary level service for people with illness or injury 24 hours a day 7 days per week. Our busy ED provides care for >75,000 patients annually with an admission rate of more than 35% and a paediatric case load of 20%.

The RHH Emergency Department has a co-located Emergency Medical Unit (EMU) which is a short stay ward for patients requiring a brief hospital stay (generally less than 24 hours).  The EMU has 24 short-stay beds operating 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with a high turnover ward environment and a variety of clinical presentations.

The Role:

As a registered nurse within the emergency department, you will work within the multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality care to adult and paediatric patients. The department provides various educational pathways to support your clinical knowledge and experience to better the care for the Tasmanian community.

You will need

  1. Current knowledge of, and the ability to apply nursing principles, procedures and practices in the delivery of patient/client care in a designated practice area and in line with legal requirements and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board (NMBA) Registered Nurse standards for practice.
  2. Sound interpersonal and communication skills, including written skills and the ability to function effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  3. Knowledge of continuous quality improvement (safety and quality) and the application of evidence-based practice in the practice setting.

Details of appointment:

Multiple fixed term full time or part time, shift worker (fully rotational) position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately twelve (12) months.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $78,179 to $105,995 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
