The Team:
Alcohol and Drug Services (ADS) is a part of the Department of Health (DOH) that cares for the needs of people suffering from addiction in Southern Tasmania. The service operates on a Multidisciplinary team model of care, all our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.
The Role:
- Provide a comprehensive, evidence based clinical assessment, treatment and assertive case management service for people in need of ORT (opiate replacement treatment).
- Undertake clinical documentation in line with organisational and professional requirements
- Contribute to the effective functioning of the multidisciplinary team.
- Undertake continuing professional development including completing mandatory training.
You will need:
- Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary evidence based practice used in the treatment and prevention of alcohol and other drug dependence, including alcohol and other drug assessment, the harm minimisation framework, interventions and prevention activities.
- Knowledge of, and the ability to undertake, comprehensive assessments and therapeutic interventions with complex AOD issues.
- Knowledge of and ability to develop, monitor and implement quality assurance and improvement activities and/or research.

Details of appointment:
Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately twelve (12) months.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78179 to $105,995 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.
Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455- $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
Salary Packaging:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse

Completed or working towards post graduate qualifications in AOD
- Current Driver’s Licence
