Our midwives work in all models of care, and you will be able to broaden your professional experience in providing advice, care and support to women in our community during pregnancy, birth and postnatal period.
You’ll champion a child safe culture, contribute to a strong team approach, and put pregnant and new mum’s, babies and their support network first. You will also have the opportunity to work with emerging mid-wives and share your knowledge. What is more important than that?
The role:
The Registered Midwife:
- Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate midwifery care in partnership with women, their families and other health professionals.

Details of Appointment
Multiple, permanent, full time/part time, shift-worker (fully rotational) positions working up 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Salary: $78,179 - $105,995 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Access to the Grade 4 salary range $99,455 - $105,995 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Midwife

Current Working with Children Registration
The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:
- Conviction checks in the following areas:
- crimes of violence
- sex related offences
- serious drug offences
- crimes involving dishonesty
- Identification check
- Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
