The Role:
The CNS role provides leadership to each shift, and ensures that excellent care is provided to each patient (or guest, as they are called at Peacock House).
You will need:
- Extensive experience in and comprehensive knowledge of clinical nursing practice in a variety of settings, with at least five years postgraduate clinical nursing experience directly applicable to Mental Health settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and awards, including the Mental Health Act, Right to Information Act, Work Health and Safety and relevant statutory requirements and departmental procedures and policies.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, and the proven ability to work constructively as part of a multidisciplinary team at both service and community levels.
- Demonstrated ability to act as a clinical resource in the clinical setting.
- Highly developed clinical management and leadership skills with demonstrated ability to act as a multidisciplinary team member and provide support to the service manager.

The Team:
Peacock House is a twelve bed inpatient unit, which provides a warm and welcoming environment and trauma-informed care. We have an excellent multi-disciplinary team, including peer workers. It is co-located with a Safe Haven and an Integration Hub, which together provide a unique wrap around model of care.
Details of appointment:
Permanent, full time, shift worker position (fully rotational), working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $103,466 to $109,166 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
Allowances:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
- Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
Benefits available to eligible candidates:

Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse and possess specialist tertiary graduate or post graduate mental health/psychiatric nursing qualification; or completed, prior to the transfer of nurse education to the tertiary sector, an accredited hospital-based program that led to registration as a psychiatric nurse by the relevant nurse regulatory authority within Australia, New Zealand, Canada or the United Kingdom
