Job Description:
The Royal Hobart Hospital and Department of Women’s, Adolescent’s and Children’s Services is seeking interest from suitably qualified applicants for a Visiting Medical Specialist (Tasmanian Clinical Genetics Service) vacancy.

The Role
- Provide clinical services of the highest possible standard to TCGS patients and their families/carers Statewide.
- Facilitate the development and delivery of best practice in general genetics services to patients across Tasmania.
- Lead and contribute to clinical research in the field of clinical genetics at both the Tasmanian Health Service and the University of Tasmania.
- Provide services to the School of Medicine through the Discipline of Paediatrics and Child Health, University of Tasmania in undergraduate teaching and learning.
Actively pursue improved outcomes for genetics patients by participating in:
- Post graduate teaching; and
- Audit and evaluation.

Salary
Visiting Medical Specialist Level 1 – Level 4
- $161.67 - $194.30 per hour
- Exclusive of paid recreation leave, sick leave, conference leave and sabbatical leave entitlements
OR
Visiting Medical Specialist Level 1 – Level 4 (RUR)
- $187.50 - $225.38 per hour
- Inclusive of paid recreation leave, sick leave, conference leave and sabbatical leave entitlements
Hourly rates are subject to any increases in remuneration in accordance with the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
The hourly rate is commensurate to years of service
- Advancement to the Level 4 salary range is subject to Schedule 1: Guidelines for Progression to VMS Level 4 in the Tasmanian Visiting Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2019
Details of Appointment
Permanent, part-time day work, working 15.2 hours per fortnight commencing from as soon as possible.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.
Essential Requirements
- Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty
- Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration
