Biological Scientist I

Job Description:
Conducts laboratory experiments using established methods and procedures. These may include DNA extractions, polymerase chain reaction, maintenance of microbiological cultures, and data analysis.
Assists in the preparation of professional progress reports documenting the results of experiments for reporting to sponsoring agencies. Communicates research findings and results in a clear, concise, and scientific manner.
Maintains detailed written and digital records of laboratory methods and results, including protocols, and data archives.
Maintain updated inventories of consumable supplies and biological samples. Manage chemical and biological waste generation and removal for the lab. Maintains a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment, complying with relevant regulations and departmental standards.
Train graduate and undergraduate researchers in the laboratory research methods and lab safety.
Expected Salary:

$23.95 per hour

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in biology or a closely related life science field. This position is only open to current UF employees.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in microbiology and experience with analysis of microbiomes
