The Role:
This position is based at Peacock Centre, where we offer trauma-informed care, a welcoming environment and recovery-oriented care.
As part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high quality mental health services in accordance with Mental Health Services principles, National Mental Health Standards, Agency policy, legal requirements and relevant professional competencies, the Registered Nurse - Acute Treatment Unit will:
- Undertake the delivery of quality community based inpatient care and treatment to consumers of the Acute Treatment Unit (ATU) based on best practice principles including Recovery Oriented Practice, the Triangle of Care framework & Trauma Informed Care and within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
- Work closely with identified family, friends and others, staff across the Acute Care Stream and Continuing Care Stream, broader SMHS and a range of community service providers, to deliver improved outcomes and experiences for ATU consumers.
- Actively participate in service development, quality improvement and professional development initiatives.

Details of appointment:
Permanent, part time, shift worker position, working up to 38 hours per fortnight, starting as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary:
$75,902 to $102,908 pro rata per annum + our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
Allowances:
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
- Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
