The Role:
The Registered Nurse - Anaesthesia Nursing:
- Strengthens health outcomes through the provision of safe quality, clinically appropriate nursing care in partnership with patient/clients, their families and other health professionals.
- Is an integral part of the multidisciplinary perioperative team. The focus of the role is to collaborate with the Anaesthetist, and other members of the perioperative team, by providing support for the safe administration of anaesthesia, and to provide effective back-up during critical anaesthetic situations.

The Team:
The Anaesthetic Nursing team provides safe, high quality, care to patients/clients undergoing elective and emergency procedural and surgical anaesthesia.
The Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) is the largest public hospital in the state and operates at a level 6 capability and provides acute inpatient and outpatient surgical services for the Tasmania Health Service Hospitals South (THS Hospitals South) and is the tertiary referral for complex patients from THS Hospitals North and THS Hospitals Northwest. The RHH provides elective and emergency surgical services for the THS Hospitals South.
The RHH is the tertiary referral centre for all surgical procedures with the exception of transplant surgery, complex paediatric surgery, paediatric cardiac surgery, major paediatric orthopaedic surgery and cochlear implant surgery.

Details of appointment:
Multiple permanent, full time or part time, shift worker (fully rotational) positions, working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.
*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.
Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.
Salary: $75,902 - $102,908 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Services) Agreement 2023
Allowance
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum
- Access to the Grade 4 salary range $96,558 - $102,908 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4
- Payment of $15,000 staged over three years is available for Nurses and Midwives who move to Tasmania from interstate and remain employed full time for three years or more, on top of relocation allowance already available.
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10 % based on qualification type
Benefit available to eligible candidates:
- Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees
- Professional development and accelerated pathways.
- Excellent leave benefits: 20 days annual leave (pro rata), 20 days personal leave (pro rata), and study assistance leave if eligible.
