The University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine and Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences invites applications from qualified individuals for one full-time multi-track faculty position in Medical Oncology at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. This position is focused on teaching and clinical service, but also provides opportunities to participate in clinical and bench-top research. Teaching responsibilities include didactic and clinical instruction in the professional curriculum and the supervision of medical oncology residents and interns. Participation in the clinical service in the UF Veterinary Hospital includes receiving and management of oncology cases, consultations with within the hospital and with practicing veterinarians, participating in the growth of this service and continuing education. The successful candidate will join a team of two other medical oncologists all of whom, are Diplomates of the ACVIM (Medical Oncology), two board certified radiation therapists (Diplomate of the ACVR), and three surgical oncologists, ACVS Fellow of Surgical Oncology, in a beautiful 100,000 square foot Small Animal Hospital (for a virtual tour see web link at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Aubwddx28f0&feature=player_embedded#at=79) Features of the hospital include a 1.5T MRI, helical CT, gamma camera, ten spacious O.Rs, C-arm fluoroscopy, portable radiography, state of the art laparoscopy/arthroscopy, interventional radiology suite, electrochemotherapy and a linear accelerator with cone beam CT, a multi-leaf collimator and stereotactic radiotherapy. Development of an independent or collaborative research program in an area of special interest is encouraged. Extensive opportunities for collaborative research exists within the College and with the UF College of Medicine, Shands Cancer Center (Cancer Center " UF Health Cancer Center " University of Florida) (www.cancer.gov/research/infrastructure/cancer-centers/...) and McKnight Brain Institute (including Comparative Stereotactic Radiosurgery Program). The oncology service also offers a robust clinical trials service and is a member of the Comparative Oncology Trials Consortium (COTC). The successful candidate will have access to a well-equipped comparative oncology research lab and be eligible to compete for competitive intramural and endowed research funds.
