Senior Occupational Therapist – Paediatrics
Permanent, Part Time – Tasmanian Health Service – Northern Tasmania (Launceston)
To be Tasmanian is to pursue quality over quantity. We create, preserve, and protect the unusual. With quiet confidence, with passion and perseverance, we pursue the extraordinary. Could you be Tasmanian?
You could be an Occupational Therapist anywhere. What’s different about Tasmania is our culture and our lifestyle. Our island home helps drive a culture of innovation and human connection, which feels both old fashioned and… like the only future worth pursuing.
Here you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to breath-taking coastlines, National Parks or award-winning restaurants or bars. After a big day at work, you won’t need to battle any traffic. You might get on your bike or put on your walking shoes and head home through the tree-lined streets, past heritage buildings or quirky and quaint hideaways. You can decompress with a walk around the gorge, or put on your hiking boots and tell it to the mountain.
You can explore the local landscapes in the early mornings and on weekends, or take painting classes, write novels, sell preserves at the weekly farmers’ market, or become a wine connoisseur. Some people take up roles in sport clubs, theatre or music groups, as volunteers, or serving on boards. Spouses and children thrive here in a safe and welcoming community with beautiful open spaces for adventure and play.
Tasmanians are connected to the land where we live, and to the stories of the people who have cared for this place for tens of thousands of years. Here is a story told by one OT who escaped a busy city life in search of something different: Skye Waddingham | Tasmanian
Along with 2 Paediatric Senior OTs, you will manage a diverse inpatient and outpatient child and adolescent caseload. Belonging to a department of more than 35 OTs, and an ever growing Paediatric MDT, the LGH is large enough for you to feel part of something important, somewhere you can belong and surround yourself with diversity, friendships, professional supports, and lifestyles to be envied.
As an integral member of our Paediatric multi-disciplinary team, you will play a leading role in safeguarding children and adolescents through delivering contemporary, evidence-informed practice and high-quality patient experiences. You will be looked upon as a clinical mentor and leader by others and you will continually advance OT services through your innovation. We’ll look after you from the very beginning, ensure you are fully inducted and welcomed into our world and set you up to thrive.
For more information on becoming one of our Senior Paediatric OTs, or to learn more about what we can do for you (relocation, salary benefits, development opportunities, etc.) please email our Manager, Kerri Roberts: [email protected] or one of our Clinical Leads, Skye Waddingham, [email protected]
