The Role: The Department of Health is seeking dedicated Enrolled Nurses to join our team at West Coast District Hospital.
As an Enrolled Nurse, you'll play a vital role in improving health outcomes by providing safe, quality nursing care. Working closely with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals, your responsibilities will include delivering evidence-based care under the supervision of a registered nurse, contributing to patient care plans, participating in multidisciplinary teams, and collecting clinical data. You'll provide essential information to patients and families and help prioritise their care needs.
Your commitment to quality and safety will see you actively involved in improvement activities, risk management, and identifying and reporting unsafe practices. Ongoing self and professional development are key aspects of this role, as is adherence to all policies, protocols, and mandatory training requirements.
The West Coast District Hospital boasts 9 sub-acute care beds, including a Palliative Suite, an Emergency First Response Unit, a 16-bed Aged Care Residential facility, and services like Radiology, Diabetic Clinics, Physiotherapy, and Podiatry. Our comprehensive community services include Community Nursing, Home Help/Personal Care, and Home Maintenance.

Details of Appointment
Multiple permanent, full time & part time, shift-worker positions working up to 76 hours per fortnight.
*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant
- Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Salary: $72,772 to $75,902 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
- Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
- Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of $3,699 per annum and an additional salary allowance of 10%
- Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as an Enrolled Nurse (holds a Board-approved qualification in administration of medicines)

Working with Vulnerable People Registration
*Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee’s responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.
