Job Description:
The Child Health and Parenting Service are looking for suitable an Allied Health Professional candidate to join our dynamic team in providing quality service to families of children under 5 based in the North West Parenting Centre in Tasmania.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Allied Health Professional to join the Child Health and Parenting Service (CHaPS) in Tasmania’s North/North West Region, Providing early intervention parenting support for clients. We are looking for individuals that are passionate about delivering quality child and family health services to children and families to improve health and wellbeing outcomes.
The North West encompasses Circular Head to West Coast to Devonport Surrounds and King Island. The North West of Tasmania is a beautiful area, surrounded by gorgeous beaches, walking tracks, mountain bike tracks, wineries, cafes / restaurants. NW Coast Offers World Heritage wilderness and pristine beaches on your doorstep
The CHaPS Allied Health Professional is responsible for:
- Providing therapeutic Psychological or Social Work services to parents with infants 0-4 years of age within a primary health care framework in accordance with the philosophy of CHaPS, Agency policy, legal requirements, and the Code of Ethics of the appropriate professional body (e.g., Australian Psychological Society [APS] or Australian Association of Social Workers [AASW])
- Utilising evidence-based and best practice principles within a collaborative and multidisciplinary framework.
- Providing evidence-based assessments and therapeutic interventions to clients of CHaPS and their families.
Details of Appointment
Permanent, part time, day worker position working 38 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or fixed term full time, part time and casual vacancies.
Salary: $106,966 - $123,013 per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
- Please note that access to salaries beyond $115,573 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme
- Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022
Eligibility:
Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:
- Satisfactory completion of an approved allied health professional tertiary qualification/program of study and registered with the relevant National Board or, in the case of self-regulated allied health professions, full membership/eligible for membership with the relevant professional association
- Current Working with Children Registration
Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Experience in therapeutic counselling, children and families and/or perinatal and infant mental health
