About the Role
The Research Fellow (Nitrogen Management in Grain Crops) at the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Science, School of Agriculture Food and Ecosystem Sciences will play a key role in conducting supervised research aimed at enhancing nitrogen use efficiency in Australian grain cropping.

This position will work under limited supervision to assist and participate in research within the project team to deliver project objectives and milestones which will include writing milestone reports and peer reviewed papers, liaising with stakeholders and the project research team, managing the project activities, supervising junior research staff, and presenting at project meetings and other events as directed.

Your responsibilities will include:

Who We Are Looking For
You will ideally possess work experience in field-based grains research, demonstrating a strong ability to prepare research reports and manuscripts for publication. Additionally, you should show clear evidence of capability and motivation to advance in an academic research career.

You will also have:

  • Completion of a PhD in agricultural science, soil science or related discipline with sound understanding of soil nitrogen cycle .
  • Demonstrated experience in field crops research with a focus on improving fertiliser use efficiency.
  • Experience in monitoring greenhouse gas emissions from soil.
  • Skills in data collation and analysis
  • A demonstrated aptitude for research, with a sound publication record in relevant areas, commensurate with experience and opportunities.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
