Job Description: | Assist Agents with demonstration plots and field trials (including data entry) Set up meetings/educational events Demo Sites: Landscape, Vegetable gardens, Agronomic demos Collect and processes samples from farms
Applies pesticides and herbicides Assists with certain youth programming efforts Grounds Maintenance Operates a tractor and bush hog to mow lawns Assists Master Gardener Coordinator to: * Maintains demonstration gardens * Mulches trees, beds, and gardens * Prune trees and shrubs Remove debris Blows leaves from walks and parking area Remove invasive plants.
Facility Maintenance Lights (Change light bulbs) Roof/Gutter cleaning Pick up trash and empty trash cans around the building Cleans outside front entry way and perimeter of building (pressure wash)
Equipment Maintenance Wash Vehicles Maintain and repairs mechanical equipment Maintain chemical usage and equipment maintenance records Performs other duties as assigned by Ag/Row Crop Agent, CED or Office Manager. |
Expected Salary: | $15/hour, with the potential to earn more, commensurate with level of experience. |
Minimum Requirements: | Valid Florida driver license |
Preferred Qualifications: | High School Diploma or GED Knowledge of agricultural principles will be beneficial Knowledge of ground maintenance principles Knowledge of maintenance equipment operation Skills in the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems. Good problem-solving skills Skills in oral and written communication. Basic computer skills Knowledge of county and UF/IFAS office policies and procedures. Knowledge of modern office practice and procedures. Knowledge of Farm Equipment (tractors, sprayers implement). Experience with irrigation equipment operation and repair (pivot, drip, micro-jet). Experience with pesticide application and record keeping. Skills in analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions. Skills in the preparation of clear and precise administrative reports. Skills in oral and written communication on a high professional level. Skills in displaying professional demeanor. |
